Press Release:
After weeks of speculation and rumours, it has been confirmed that 6 x National Champion Mandy Bujold of the Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy will be the Main Event at a boxing show scheduled for Friday September 16th, 2011 at the Arnie Boehm Training Centre located at the new Activa SportsPlex.
This will be the first inaugural boxing show at the venue, named after Legendary boxing coach Arnie Boehm who passed away in October 2002. When asked why it would take 3 years to showcase the new venue, Head Coach Rick Cadilha is very quick to answer. “Mandy Bujold is Waterloo Boxing. It would not be right to have a show and not have her on the card. Unfortunately it has taken a long time to find an opponent and I applaud Sukhpreet for stepping up to the challenge”.
Challenging Mandy will be Sukhpreet Singh, a very skilled boxer who is currently the 2010 National Junior Champion and is entering her first year into the Senior ranks. Singh has aspirations to get to the Olympics but knows she will have to get past Bujold to make those dreams come true.
For Bujold, she will be boxing in front of her friends and family, many for the first time. When asked about the pressure of a home-town crowd, Bujold responds “My goal is to box in front of millions for the Gold Medal at the Olympics! When it comes to pressure, this will be a great test of handling pressure. I need to make sure not to get caught up in the excitement. I need to treat Sukhpreet as a worthy opponent and a person who wants to take my National Title. That is pressure, it does not matter what City we are in!”
The evening of boxing has been dubbed “Homecoming” and will also feature other W.R.B.A. champions including Cambridge Native, 14 yr old Tajinder Lall, the 2011 National Junior Champion, 17 yr old Kitchener local Suad Murseli, the 2010 National Youth Champion and 19 yr old David Palacios, who has won several Provincial Titles.
Tickets will be going on sale later this week!

Waterloo Boxing mourns passing of Danny Palacios
Friday, April 22, 2011
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Danielito (Danny) Palacios, brother to our own David Palacios. “To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other.” Carlos Castaneda
Daniel died suddenly as the result of a stroke, at Hamilton General Hospital, Hamilton, on Good Friday, April 22, 2011. He was 25.
He is the beloved son of Doris and Jose Palacios of Kitchener. Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Orlando and his wife Sheriza of Brampton, Adalid and his wife Amanda, Emanuel and David all of Kitchener; two special nieces, Selena and Shakira; grandmother Maria Gonzalez of Waterloo and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Daniel with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo today (Saturday) from 5 pm to 9 pm and Easter Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, April 25, 2011, 11 am. Following the burial at the cemetery, everyone is invited to join the family in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with the family.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy and may be arranged through the funeral home, www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
Waterloo Boxing Hosts Pre-Tyke Hockey Players
February, 2011
Waterloo Boxing played host to 68 Pre-tyke hockey players from the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association on Saturday February 12th. Coach Rick introduced the 5 and 6 year old kids to dryland training with a series of exercises and routines to promote fitness, quickness, and endurance. Parents were invited to stay and watch the kids' workout.
Another National Champion Crowned
January, 2011
Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy's Tajinder Lall has captured his first National Junior Championship at the 2011 National Junior Championships held in St. Hyancinthe Quebec. The 14 yr old Cambridge native defeated Nikko IPPOLITTO of British Columbia to win the Gold Medal in the 52 kg category by a score of 8-0.
To get to the finals, Tajinder defeated Jesse ROCHAR from Alberta 9-1 on points in the semi-finals. The Junior C category attracts the best 15 and 16 yr old boxers from the entire country.
Despite being the youngest competitor in the tournament, Tajinder proved he is an athlete to watch in the future. Next up for Tajinder will be the AIBA Junior World Champinships to be held from July 20-31st in Astana Kazakhstan.
Winning a National Title takes a lot of determination and sacrifice as well as a very strong support team. Coaching Tajinder was WRBA's 6 time National Champion Mandy Bujold and making up the remainder of the Dream Team was Olympic Gold Medalist Coach Adrian Teodorescu of the Atlas Boxing Club.

This program is 100% free and for a limited time, being offered to all students just in time for exams and recovery week!
For those unfamiliar with the program, it is located in our gym upstairs. "Hit the Books" operates on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm.
The program starts again on Monday and will run until the end of February. If we have kids, the program will continue to operate.
